Progress:
Phase 1, Phase 2, Phase 3 and Phase 4 work areas are substantially complete. Demolition in the Phase 5 and Phase 6 work areas are complete. Utility work in the Phase 5 and Phase 6 work areas are nearing completion. New sidewalks in the Phase 5 and Phase 6 areas are complete from Babe's Doughnuts to Chuck's. The Greensboro and University Boulevard crosswalks will reopen during the afternoon of July 31.
Next Steps:
- New curb/gutter, sidewalk and roadway construction commenced at Babe’s Doughnuts and will continue to progress to the south.
- Landscaping work on the east side of Greensboro Avenue will tentatively begin the week of August 3.
Upcoming Impacts:
- The inside southbound lane of Greensboro Avenue between 7th Street and Gary Fitts Street is closed for the duration of the project.
- The southbound lanes of Greensboro Avenue and adjacent parking between University Boulevard and Gary Fitts Street are closed within the Phase 5 and Phase 6 work areas.
- The majority of the sidewalk corridor will remain open along the west side of Greensboro Avenue between University Boulevard and Gary Fitts Street.
- Beginning August 3, the Gary Fitts Street crosswalk closest to the Bama Theatre will be temporarily closed to pedestrians.
- Beginning August 3, the southern Greensboro Avenue crosswalk at Gary Fitts Street (from the Bama Theatre to Swag) will be closed to pedestrians for the remainder of the project.
