Progress:
Phase 1, Phase 2, Phase 3 and Phase 4 work areas are substantially complete. Demolition in the Phase 5 and Phase 6 work areas are complete. Utility work in the Phase 5 and Phase 6 work areas are nearing completion. New sidewalks in the Phase 5 and Phase 6 areas are complete from Babe's Doughnuts to Chuck's. The Greensboro and University Boulevard crosswalks will reopen during the afternoon of July 31.
Next Steps:
New curb/gutter, sidewalk and roadway construction commenced at Babe's Doughnuts and will continue to progress to the south.Landscaping work on the east side of Greensboro Avenue will tentatively begin the week of August 3.
Upcoming Impacts:
The inside southbound lane of Greensboro Avenue between 7th Street and Gary Fitts Street is closed for the duration of the project.The southbound lanes of Greensboro Avenue and adjacent parking between University Boulevard and Gary Fitts Street are closed within the Phase 5 and Phase 6 work areas. The majority of the sidewalk corridor will remain open along the west side of Greensboro Avenue between University Boulevard and Gary Fitts Street. Beginning August 3, the Gary Fitts Street crosswalk closest to the Bama Theatre will be temporarily closed to pedestrians.Beginning August 3, the southern Greensboro Avenue crosswalk at Gary Fitts Street (from the Bama Theatre to Swag) will be closed to pedestrians for the remainder of the project.
