Progress:
The Phase 1 and Phase 2 work areas are substantially complete. The northbound lane of Greensboro Avenue, the adjacent bay parking and the sidewalk between Gary Fitts Street and University Boulevard were reopened during the evening of Friday, June 5. Gas relocation is also complete. Sidewalk construction between Swag and the former Downtown Trading Company is complete within the Phase 3 and Phase 4 work areas. Traffic signal and light pole refurbishment is nearing completion throughout the project.
Next Steps:
- Demolition, utility and new sidewalk work will continue in Phase 3 and Phase 4
Upcoming Impacts:
- Northbound lanes of Greensboro Avenue between 7th Street and Gary Fitts Street are closed within the Phases 3-4 work areas
- The sidewalk corridor along the east side of Greensboro will remain open between 7th Street and Gary Fitts Street with shifts as work continues at building entrances
- The sidewalk south of The Trunk is currently closed between The Trunk and 7th Street adjacent to the vacant buildings
- The northeast quadrant of the Greensboro and 7th Street intersection will tentatively be closed until July 11
- Gary Fitts Street will be closed between the Shirt Shop and Swag from Monday, July 6, until Sunday, July 12. This closure will only occur after the 7th Street closure has reopened.
Pedestrian and local business access will remain open during the duration of the project.
