Progress
Primary areas of material haul-off have been completed, and only minor grading work remains on the project. Grading work has begun to widen McWright’s Ferry Road, and fill material is visible on the east side of McWright’s in preparation for new curb and gutter. Sanitary sewer installation has progressed from south of Oak Glen to north of Bluegrass Pkwy and will be completed in the next few weeks. On SR-297 (Bryant Bridge), traffic signal foundations and conduit are being placed and the contractor will begin grading the new intersection in between the diversion roads. Bridge deck pours will continue this month and the installation of lighting systems on McWright’s moving towards the bridge has begun. Through the summer, intermittent road and lane closures on McWright’s Ferry Road are expected to continue, and traffic will remain on the SR-297 diversions.
Upcoming impacts
- Sanitary sewer installation across McWright’s Ferry Road to Oak Chase will necessitate a detour through Sierra Drive
- Traffic will continue using the SR-297 diversions as work on the McWright’s Ferry Road intersection progresses
- Storm drain crossings and roadway work on the existing portion of McWright’s Ferry Road will necessitate intermittent lane closures
Next steps
- Complete sanitary sewer installation near New Watermelon Road
- Continue lighting and security infrastructure on McWright’s Ferry Road
- Continue deck construction on both bridges
- Continue final grading, paving and grassing on the new portion of McWright’s Ferry Road
