Progress

All of the blasting for this project has been completed, and material haul-off is progressing on schedule. Waterlines were installed in April, and the lines on McWright’s Ferry Road have been switched over to the new feeds. Sanitary sewer line installation is in progress as of early June.  On the SR-297 (Bryant Bridge) side of the project, traffic diversions are in place at the intersection of SR-297 and McWright’s Ferry Road.  This will allow intersection work to happen with minimal impacts to traffic. Bridge construction continues to progress. A portion of the concrete pouring on the pedestrian bridge is complete, and the road bridge will be poured this month. Through the summer, intermittent road and lane closures on McWright’s Ferry Road are expected to continue, and traffic will remain on the SR-297 diversions.

Upcoming impacts

  • Sanitary sewer installation and upcoming road reconstruction will require intermittent lane restrictions on McWright’s Ferry Road from Oak Glen to Bluegrass Pkwy
  • Traffic will continue using the SR-297 diversions as work on the McWright’s Ferry Road intersection takes place

Next steps

  • Continue sanitary sewer improvements along the existing portion of McWright’s Ferry Road
  • Begin lighting and security infrastructure on McWright’s Ferry Road
  • Continue deck construction on both bridges
  • Complete the earthwork operations on the remaining areas of the project
  • Continue final grading, paving and grassing on the new portion of McWright’s Ferry Road
  • Begin construction of the new McWright’s Ferry Road and SR-297 intersection
