Progress

The contractor has moved 60% of the required material on the project, installed girders on 3 of the 7 spans for the vehicle bridge, and laid asphalt on around 2000 feet of new roadway.

Currently, blasting and earthwork continues between SR-297 and North River and in the new section of the roadway south of the SR-297.

Upcoming impacts

  • As part of the SR-297/Rice Mine intersection improvements, work will extend into the travel lanes, necessitating a lane closure on SR-297 and a lane shift on Rice Mine Rd
  • Water and sanitary sewer installation on the east side of McWright’s Ferry Road will require lane closures

Next steps

  • Water and sewer improvements on McWright’s Ferry Road
  • Continue construction of caps, girder placement, and placing the pedestrian bridge truss span across North River
  • Earthwork operations south of SR-297 to connect the new McWright’s Ferry Road intersection to the existing Rice Mine Road
