Progress
Last month, the contractor completed the new intersection and road tie-ins at SR-297 (Bryant Bridge) and Rice Mine Road, and traffic transitioned to the new intersection. This marked a major milestone for the project. Now that traffic has moved off of the existing Rice Mine Road, the contractor continues constructing the remaining travel lanes and side streets in front of TTL, Coral Industries, and the Randall Reilly buildings. Waterline and storm drain work is being completed on Rice Mine Road, and the contractor has made significant progress on the installation of curb & gutter, sidewalks, and driveways in the area. Decorative railing on the pedestrian bridge and painting on the roadway bridge is complete. On the McWright’s Ferry Road side, the contractor has begun final grading of ditches and slopes.
Upcoming impacts
- Minor impacts to traffic are expected during paving operations on Rice Mine and SR-297. This work will allow additional lanes to be opened, improving traffic flow.
- Storm drain crossings on McWright’s Ferry Road near Oak Glen will have a minor traffic impact.
Next steps
- Continue curb & gutter, sidewalk, and driveways on Rice Mine Road.
- Place asphalt binder layers on the outside lanes of Rice Mine and SR-297 and open the second lane to traffic.
- Complete final grading and finish shoulders, slopes and the pedestrian path on the new portion of McWright’s Ferry Road.
- Complete the re-construction of the west half of Rice Mine Road.
