Progress

Paving the final lanes on Rice Mine Road and SR-297 (Bryant Bridge) is expected to be complete this month. Storm drainage and curb and gutter installation are near completion on the Rice Mine Spur Road in front of Coral Industries, and sidewalk has been placed from the SR-297 intersection to the north tie-in on Rice Mine Road. The new section of McWright’s Ferry Road is taking shape with the paving of the pedestrian path, installation of pedestrian lighting, sod placement, and final touches on the bridges. Work has resumed on the tie-in area near Oak Glen Drive, including storm drain installation and roadway grading.

Upcoming impacts

  • Minor impacts to traffic are expected during right lane paving at the Rice Mine Road and SR-297 intersection. This work will allow additional lanes to be opened, improving traffic flow.
  • Intermittent lane closures will cause minor traffic impacts as work continues on McWright’s Ferry Road between Waterfall Lane and Oak Glen Drive.

 Next steps

  • Complete curb and gutter, sidewalk, and driveways on Rice Mine Spur Road in front of Coral Industries and TTL.
  • Place asphalt binder layers on the outside lanes of Rice Mine Road and SR-297 and open the second lane to traffic.
  • Construct and pave the west side of the McWright’s Ferry Road tie-in near Oak Glen. Begin curb and gutter on the east side of McWright’s Ferry Road south of Sierra Drive.
  • Continue remaining work on the new section of the road between North River and the existing road.
