Progress

The current focus of the project is to complete the roadway tie-ins at Rice Mine Road and SR-297 (Bryant Bridge). The Rice Mine Road north tie-in in front of Randall Reilly is complete, and the SR-297 tie-in is completed and preliminarily paved. The new traffic signal at SR-297 and Rice Mine Road is operational, and the contractor has finished the shoulders and slopes in this area with topsoil and grass. The closure of Rice Mine Road that began Friday, November 22 completes the south Rice Mine Road tie-in in front of Plott Construction. Traffic now utilizes the new intersection and traffic signal.

Upcoming impacts

  • This month, the contractor will begin removal and rebuilding of the west half of Rice Mine Road in front of Randall Reilly. Minor impacts to traffic are expected.

Next steps

  • Continue lighting and security infrastructure on McWright’s Ferry Road
  • Complete final grading and finish shoulders, slopes and the pedestrian path on the new portion of McWright’s Ferry Road
  • Complete the re-construction of the west half of Rice Mine Road
