Progress
The Rice Mine Road/SR-297 side of the project is nearly complete, with only a few minor items of work remaining and the final layer of asphalt, which will be added later this year as the project concludes. The contractor has shifted his focus to the McWright’s Ferry Road side of the project. The paving of the new McWright’s Ferry Road was extended north near Oak Glen, and progress continued on the conduit and pole bases for lighting and security upgrades along the multi-use path. Recently, curb and gutter and concrete driveways were installed between Oak Glen and Sierra Drive along McWright’s Ferry Road. The McWright’s Spur tie in front of Waterfall Lane is ready for asphalt, and sod installation has continued north on the project. Work was completed in the past two weeks to address settlement in the existing sanitary sewer trench along McWright’s Ferry Road.
Upcoming impacts
- Traffic from McWright’s Spur south of, and including, Waterfall Lane will begin using the McWright’s Spur tie next week after it is paved.
- Continued lane restrictions and shifts will occur on McWright’s Ferry Road into the summer while work is performed in and around travel lanes. Initial work will be in the segment between Sierra Drive and Oak Glen while later phases of work will impact the segment between Bluegrass Pkwy and New Watermelon Rd.
- A detour of Bluegrass Pkwy traffic through Sierra Dr will be needed in late Spring to complete the new Bluegrass Pkwy.
